Plymouth-born Olympic swimmer hails decision to ban transgender women from competing in female international events
Plymouth-born Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies has hailed the landmark decision by World Athletics to ban transgender women from competing in female international events.
The former medallist, 60, said she was “quite emotional” to hear the decision after campaigning for five years on the issue. She revealed last year that she faced “financial ruin” after being subjected to horrific abuse after arguing that transgender athletes had a genetic advantage over female competitors who were born female.
